Camp on the Mighty Mississippi

Tom Sawyer RV Park

We stopped for one night at the Tom Sawyer RV Park just outside of Memphis, Tennessee, and across the border in Arkansas. While searching on our favorite camping app, RV Parky, for campgrounds along our route, this one immediately stuck out to us because of its name. It came highly recommended by other camper reviews, and the location just a few miles off of I-40 made it super convenient. We also thought it would be pretty cool to camp right on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River.

Check out our video from Tom Sawyer RV Park HERE.

The campground itself is very basic, nothing special at all, but we still thought it was a great stop. The boys tried fishing a bit, but no luck. We enjoyed sitting by the river’s edge watching the barges move up and down stream. We even spotted a huge steam boat paddling by. Other campers were out enjoying the view, and people seemed very happy to be here. One man told us he loved coming here just to do nothing but sit and watch the river, and he looks forward to it every year. One warning, when the sun did go down, the mosquitos were out in full force!

We were very excited to add a new sticker (Arkansas) to our travel map!
