As the longest undeveloped Atlantic coastline in Florida, the Canaveral National Seashore stretches from New Smyrna Beach to Cape Canaveral. This was another amazing way to use our National Parks Pass!
This pristine barrier island composed of dune, hammock and lagoon habitats provides protection from storms, preserves ancient Timucua Native American mounds, and is sanctuary for thousands of species of plants and animals that call Canaveral National Seashore home. <http://www.nps.gov>
We loved this beach more than we were expecting. It was beautifully rugged and felt natural. The sand was made of course ground shells but was still plenty soft underfoot. The waves were quite big during our visit, but the water was warm and inviting. We found several unique seashells and a little starfish too! This is a fantastic place to explore, hike trails, or relax for the day.
