Curry Hammock State Park - FLORIDA KEYS

This was our first year to score reservations at some of the amazing Florida State Park campgrounds in south Florida and the Florida Keys. These sites are highly sought after and by far the most difficult reservations to score in all 4 years of our RV travel experience. There are definitely a few tips and tricks we've learned from fellow campers over the years that allowed us to snag these sites.

We kicked off 2024 with our first Florida State Park stay at Curry Hammock State Park in the always stunning Florida Keys. Located between Islamorada and Marathon, this was such a peaceful little oasis. The campground has only 28 sites, all of which are spacious and clean, surrounded by beautiful native vegetation. They are not full hook-up, water and electric only, but there is a very nice dump station on site. Some campsites have a direct ocean view, and there is access via a little walkway to the tranquil little beach. It's a very shallow beach - perfect for the kids to play, swim and explore. Harper loved building sand castles and catching little fish. The boys got in lots of practice catching bait with the cast net. There is a mangrove channel that circles the park and sandbars just offshore - a sublime place to play in the water with kayaks or paddleboards.

Curry Hammock State Park is the largest undeveloped parcel of land between Key Largo and Big Pine Key.

The campground hosts here were very friendly and did a top notch job of keeping the park clean and tidy. Volunteers comb the beach daily to remove any trash that's washed ashore, so the beach is always clean and natural.

I could go on and on about our time here - 10 out of 10, thoroughly impressed and highly recommended! If you ever get the chance to book an RV site here, DO IT!
