We stopped for the weekend at Santee State Park in South Carolina. It's not far off of I-95 heading south, and sits along the banks of beautiful Lake Marion.

There are two campgrounds at Santee State Park - Cypress View & Lakeside. We followed reviews from fellow campers on our RVParky app to book a site at Cypress View, and we loved the pull through site that we scored.
We arrived on Friday, just about sunset, so we got all set up and called it a night. We woke up at 6:30am the next morning to gunshots - THOUSANDS of gunshots echoing around the lake. We thought it was either a battle reenactment or pesky early morning fireworks. When we finally got up and chatted with the neighbors, we found out it was opening day of duck hunting season! We had a little chuckle and enjoyed watching the many hunters coming in off the lake that afternoon with their fill of ducks piled high.
We enjoyed the creatures of Santee State Park the most - The kids caught a little green anole lizard and had a great time observing and playing with it. We also found some lovely butterflies and squirrels galore kept the dogs fully entertained.
The boys did a little shore fishing, and although they only reeled in a few little ones, it was still a lot of fun! They can't all be whoppers!
